Your day, from Paris to Manhattan

  1. Before departureAn AEROAFFAIRES broker calls you back within 30 minutes to check your dog's paperwork: the CDC Dog Import Form receipt, an age of at least six months, a microchip that can be read in the US. It is all set out in our United States travel requirements.
  2. At Paris Le BourgetYou board through a private aviation terminal, with no queues. Your dog boards with you.
  3. During the 7h 45m flightIt stays at your feet, in the cabin. The crew is briefed on welcoming animals, and water, bowls and blankets are provided on board. Our advice on water, food and toilet breaks before the flight.
  4. At TeterboroYou land in New Jersey, 12 miles (roughly 19 km) from Midtown Manhattan. US customs processes crew and passengers on site, where you show the CDC form receipt; it inspects aircraft arriving from abroad from 07:30 to 23:15 Eastern Time. What to know about Teterboro.

Why not a scheduled flight?

On the major European airlines, a dog can fly in the cabin up to 8 kg (17.6 lb) including its carrier. Above that, Air France puts the dog in the hold, and the major US airlines no longer take pets in the hold for the general public. The details, airline by airline, are in Pet in cabin: weight limits, fees and airlines.

On our flights that limit does not apply: capacity depends on the aircraft and on how many animals are on board, and a broker approves each dog case by case. Your dog does not spend those hours apart from you in the dark and the noise of the hold.

Frequently asked questions

Can my dog fly in the cabin between Paris and New York?

Yes. On our flights your dog travels in the cabin with you, at your feet, from take-off to landing. The weight limit of scheduled airlines does not apply: capacity depends on the aircraft and on how many animals are on board, and a broker approves each dog case by case.

What documents does a dog need to enter the United States?

For a dog that has only been in dog rabies-free or low-risk countries in the past six months, including France, the CDC requires the receipt of its online CDC Dog Import Form. The dog must also be at least six months old and have a microchip that can be read. For an arrival at Teterboro, bring a veterinary health certificate less than 30 days old, as New Jersey recommends. These rules apply on every flight, private ones included.

Where does the flight land in New York?

At Teterboro, in New Jersey, 12 miles (roughly 19 km) from Midtown Manhattan. US customs inspects aircraft arriving from abroad there from 07:30 to 23:15 Eastern Time.

How much is a seat from Paris to New York?

€10,000 per seat on the next flight, taxes and airport charges included. One ticket covers one person and their dog: you pay for your seat, not the jet.

What happens if the flight does not reach its threshold?

The flight is cancelled and your seat is refunded in full. You are told as soon as possible, and a broker offers you an alternative date.

My dog has been in Dubai in the past six months: can it take this flight?

Not to Teterboro. The CDC lists the United Arab Emirates as high risk for dog rabies: a dog vaccinated outside the United States that has been there in the past six months must enter through an airport with a CDC-registered animal care facility, where it has a reservation. Teterboro has none; for New York, that means JFK. Tell your broker about any stay abroad, however short.
